Look! Up in the sky!

This was the scene Friday night at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium (not the most appealing name for a stadium) before the Louisville Cardinals football game against the Florida State Seminoles.

Couple of quick thoughts:

1: One of the motivators for this stunt was that the game was televised nationally on a Friday night. It turned out to be the best game of the night.

2: I wonder how many flights it delayed? The stadium is about a mile from the airport (I know, I’ve walked it.) And Muhammad Ali International Airport is busy in the early evening because of all of the UPS jet traffic. As I watched the descent, I imagined a Southwest pilot hearing from the control tower that she had to divert because of an opening attraction for a football game.

3: I have to admit, it was cool. The smoke signals at the beginning looked like weird clouds, but then the parachutes started opening, and the landings were in sync (with a noticeable stumble at the end). I’m never going to jump out of a plane, but I’m sure the photo at the top is what I would see if I did.
