OK. We all know the “Nancy” comic strip at the top isn’t an official Nancy comic, because it’s actually funny. You can tell it’s fake because Nancy has always been one of the lamest comic strips you will ever read. Here’s a real one for today:

I mean, what the hell does this even mean. And this is typical Nancy.
But the point the parody is making is this: Bad people died and that’s something to celebrate.
Decades ago, I regularly watched Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker’s “PTL Club” (PTL standing for Praise the Lord), out of fascination. I was amazed that grifters could get away with fleecing suckers “in the name of the Lord.”
The grift was obvious, but the Bakkers became rich by promising salvation in exchange for a donation. Jim was smarmy, and Tammy Faye would do a song, break into tears and have the most hideous mascara streak running down her face. Jim’s downfall, the result of a sex scandal as well as financial improprieties, was orchestrated by another grifter, Jerry Falwell, who assessed the competition, pretended to be a man of integrity and took over the Bakker empire when he found out Jim was unable to keep his “mighty rod” in his pants.
Tammy Faye divorced Jim while he was in prison and died of cancer in 2007. I feel more sympathy for Tammy, the result of the 2021 movie “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” for which Jessica Chastain won the Oscar for best actress. That was when I realized Tammy Faye wasn’t the grifter I thought she was, and she truly was sympathetic to the gay community (which was ironic, because she seemed to be the kind of character a drag queen would be inspired to parody).
Anyway, Jim Bakker, who was pulling in $1 million a week through the PTL Club and his Heritage USA Christian theme park, died this week.
Another right-wing poster boy, sex deviant also died this week.
Dennis Hastert, who was Congress’s sixth-longest-serving Speaker of the House also died this week. CBS described his downfall:
Both the longest-serving Republican House speaker and the highest-ranking elected U.S. official to serve a prison sentence, Hastert’s stunning fall from grace came in 2016, when he was sentenced to 15 months in prison on charges related to his concealment of hush money payments made to cover up his sexual abuse of teenage boys during his time as a high school wrestling coach.
Notice the trend in right-wing debauchery? Accuse others of heinous acts as a political weapon while doing those specific heinous acts. Both Jim and Dennis decried the “radical left” for its alleged sexual deviancy at a time when the actual perverts were Jim and Dennis.
Of course, not all right-wingers are sexual deviants, some are just evil.
Like Kentucky’s own undead Schrödinger’s senator Mitch McConnell. There’s a recent Substack piece by emergency medical technician Nicholas J. Orcutt, writing under the banner “The Fractured Line,” who has watched recent footage of Mitch’s return to D.C. and noted the following:
According to the official reports from his staff, Mitch never went into cardiac arrest. They say he fell and was unconscious. They are also completely full of shit. You know how I know that they are full of shit? I listened to the medic get on the radio and call for CPR in progress. He called for a supervisor. That means that not only was CPR in progress, but they had almost no hope of getting him back. The medic needed extra hands. That’s not because of a fall.
It’s also worth noticing that the man who reportedly spoke to Scott Jennings for 17 minutes (which I assume would be how all of us would know we were in hell) was unable to say a single word to the press. The man who releases long press statements isn’t capable of clearly stating the word “aye”?
I’ll be completely honest with all of you. If I had never heard of Mitch McConnell before, and had I had no idea of who he is or what he is about, I would actually feel terrible for him. As I watch him be carted around, he looks like a wild animal being prodded by small children. He watches the world around him the same way an infant watches the world around them.
The problem I have with all of this is that I do know who Mitch McConnell is. I know all about the man who brazenly refused to fund school lunches for kids because he didn’t believe in handouts. I know all about the man who has spent his political career furthering the interests of corporations and billionaires and claiming that any protest to that is anti-American. There seems to be a sense of justice that the man who has caused untold harm and damage to the American people would be put on display like a puppet.
Remember when a couple of Republican congressmen and CNN analyst Scott Jennings said they each had separate conversations with Mitch when Mitch was nowhere to be seen?
They were lying!
But no news organization has gone after them to ask why they lied so blatantly. And, to my amazement, CNN still has Jennings on as a commentator, when he should be banned from television forever.
But when you belong to a political party that genuflects to a dyed carrot top rapist, conman, liar, racist pedophile, what can you really expect from its accolades?
