Republicans in Kentucky’s 4th congressional district, currently represented by Thomas Massie, aren’t happy. Is this a sign MAGA fever is breaking? (From the CJ):

A popular Republican dinner in Northern Kentucky was canceled at the last minute – prompting some Republicans to declare that voters are ‘unenergized’ after a divisive Trump-induced congressional primary.  

The 4th District Lincoln Day Dinner was canceled just hours before it was slated to start in Independence on Sept. 18. Its organizer told The Enquirer the cancellation was unrelated to any GOP discord and blamed “trolls” for that narrative.

The annual event is a major Republican dinner that regularly brings together speakers and elected officials in Northern Kentucky, a Trump bastion.

Some Republicans there are still smarting from a bitter primary in May. President Donald Trump tapped former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein to oust veteran Republican U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie in the most expensive House primary race in history.

Gallrein and supporters spent roughly $20 million to beat Massie, who regularly drew ire from Trump and other Republicans for not toeing the party line.

Hopefully, MAGA will be “unenergized” enough to help make sure Garland Hale Barr IV loses to Charles Booker (both pictured above) in this year’s U.S. Senate race (from Hannah Drake on Facebook):

Let me tell you something and I’m just gonna say it because it’s what I feel. Andy Barr is banking on riding the wave of racism into DC.

Let’s be clear, Andy Barr does not care about the people of Kentucky. I can say that with 100% confidence because he voted to harm Kentuckians. So that should tell you all you need to know.

But Andy Barr is confident that racism will get him that seat. He’s confident he can screw over Kentuckians with the Big Beautiful Bill vote and support and Kentuckians won’t do a damn thing because of racism. He is confident he could be in support of data centers all over this state sucking up all the clean water and the people of Kentucky will still support him because of racism. He is confident he doesn’t have to show to a debate because of racism. He is 100% confident he doesn’t need to concern himself with poor white folks or Black folks or People of Color because of racism. He is confident no matter how hard he screws Kentucky residents yall will STILL vote for him anyways. That’s what he thinks of you. Which is why he isn’t putting in the effort.

Because the big fat elephant in the room is Charles Booker is Black. That’s it. And Andy Barr is banking on Kentucky residents- particularly white residents- allowing that fact to be enough to not vote for Charles Booker. And for some people it will be. And nothing I say on social media will change your mind.

But for others I want you to really ask yourself who is fighting for us? Not the millionaires and billionaires but us. The truck driver that has to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars to fill up his truck. The farmer who now wonders how they are gonna make up. The senior citizen making a choice between food or medicine. And on and on and on. Who is looking out for us?

Don’t hand Andy Barr an easy win. Vote like you want something different, something better, something amazing to happen in this state. We cannot continue to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results. Look at NYC. Imagine if they had voted for the status quo politician. What a different New York City it would be. And now all we get to do is sit back and watch them living their best lives. We have the power to also vote differently. It will be for us to decide. Charles Booker is Black. No more need for dog whistle commercials. If you couldn’t tell he’s Black. Now let’s get on with the business of voting for someone that is truly concerned about improving the lives of Kentucky residents.

This is something we’ve said many times on this blog. Garland Hale Barr IV is convinced racism will win him the seat currently held by Schrödinger’s senator. If MAGA is unenergized in the 4th district, maybe will extend statewide and will spare us such a disgrace.

(Oh, and since I’ve complained about the weakness of the Courier Journal’s coverage in general, note that the story at the top wasn’t written by a CJ reporter, but by someone at the Cincinnati Enquirer. At least the CJ is being consistent in its journalistic shortcomings.)
