Let’s take a look at the latest government figure to kiss the senile and incontinent TACO’s ass. From the CJ:

The Louisville Metro Department of Corrections will revive a policy to hold inmates who are unlawfully present in the U.S. for up to an additional 48 hours, which will remove the “sanctuary city” designation imposed on the city in May by the Trump administration, Mayor Craig Greenberg said.

In a July 22 statement, Greenberg said he received a letter from the U.S. Assistant Attorney General of the Department of Justice’s Civil Division offering more clarity on the designation, explaining the city was in violation of federal law for not holding inmates for up to 48 hours on immigration detainers.

And what is the mealy mouthed reasoning behind this?

Until now, Louisville was the only city in Kentucky that did not abide by the 48-hour detainer practice, Greenberg said.

“I have been assured by the U.S. Department of Justice that, if we reinstate the 48-hour detainers for inmates who’ve been arrested for crimes, Louisville will be taken off the federal sanctuary city list,” Greenberg said. “Accordingly, Metro Corrections will begin honoring 48-hour federal detainers as soon as practical because the stakes are too high.”

Greenberg said aligning with the Trump administration on the issue of detainers could save Louisville’s broader immigrant community from the possibility of increased ICE raids and prevent the loss of federal funding. He noted that fewer than 100 inmates booked into Metro Corrections are affected by immigration detainers each year.

OK. I guess he’s just stupid.

Right now, there are fewer than 100 inmates a year. Now that he’s given the green light to the attack on immigrants, there are going to be more raids and more crowded cells and more law-abiding people (not only men, but also women and children) rounded up and sent off to newly constructed concentration camps (which is what they are) owned by oligarchs who will donate even more money to the MAGAt infested GOP, making it even harder for Democrats to win elections in this state.

Way to go Craig. You’d have been a big success in Vichy France during the Second World War.
