One down, one to go

The Louisville Cardinals won the first game in the best of three Super Regional playoff against the Miami Hurricanes after a brief delay because of lightning. From WDRB:

Scoring two runs in the second, five in the third and one more in the fourth, Louisville hammered Miami, 8-1, to move to within one victory of earning the program’s sixth trip to the College World Series and first since 2019 under coach Dan McDonnell.

I was there and got a general admission ticket for $16. This was my view of the field:

It seemed like it was going to be a struggle, with Miami loading the bases twice in the first three innings. But starting pitcher Patrick Forbes managed key strikeouts that only resulted in one run for the Hurricanes. Meanwhile, Louisville bats were active, with back to back home runs that contributed to the 8-1 final score.

Toward the end of the game, though, there was a half-hour delay because of lightning.

Oh, and the stadium was packed. Here’s a WDRB photo of the line to the stadium before the game:

If the Cards win one more game Saturday or Sunday, they’re off to Omaha for the College World Series.

Here’s a game recap:
