I never could have imagined writing putting these words together, but Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, two guys I would/will never vote for, are showing a smidgen of backbone. Let’s see if it lasts. From Mediaite:
President Donald Trump called out four high-ranking GOP senators in a blistering online barrage early Wednesday, piling pressure on those tempted to push back against his impending tariffs against Canada.
Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) introduced a resolution to terminate the emergency declaration, and while the vote is largely symbolic, several Republican defections would carry political weight.
Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have expressed support for Kaine’s motion, with Collins calling the tariffs a “huge mistake.”
In a fiery Truth Social post Wednesday, the same day his new tariff regime is set to come into play, the president lashed out at four ranking Republican senators — Mitch McConnell, Paul, Collins, and Lisa Murkowski — for wavering on his plan.
I’m not going to get into the babbling tirade from the illegal-alien South African hair-plugged exploding-vehicle-making Space Nazi’s senile, diaper dependent Orange Chia Pet, (you can find it on Chi-Chi-Chi Chia’s fake news social media site or the Space Nazi’s electronic propaganda machine), but the fact that Kentucky’s senators are showing a modicum of defiance (while Kentucky’s remaining GOP congressional delegation still have their heads firmly up their lower bowels) is a tiny ray of hope that MAGA fever may be breaking.
Things will only get worse if GOP members continue to bow to the wannabe fascists. But, you ask, does the current regime fit the definition of a dictatorship. We report, you decide, with a little help from Wired’s Dictator Support:
If it goosesteps like a goose …
