From the Courier Journal:
They only need to arrest one judge.
They only need to fire one professor. They only need to kidnap one person to a foreign prison without due process. They only need to prosecute one journalist. They only need to convince one university to agree to surrender its students and its soul. They only need to ignore one Supreme Court order.
If you’re waiting for them to arrest all of the judges, or round up thousands of people onto trains, or lock the doors of newspapers and universities, you’re missing the point. If you’re waiting for a formal declaration from the Supreme Court that the president is above the law — that happened almost a year ago.
You’d think the CJ is attempting to show some sign of a backbone. But this is also something they ran recently:
I’m worried about you, liberal friends.
Very worried.
It’s been more than three months since Donald Trump won the presidency again and four weeks since he took office again. Many of my liberal friends remain distraught at his election, and that’s not unusual. Most Democrats, according to a recent Pew Research Center poll, don’t like anything Trump does.
It’s fine not to like his policies, but it’s not fine to let him paralyze you, as is happening in too many cases. The fury you feel isn’t healthy.
I see you rubbing your temples and pounding Ibuprofen because of headaches. I see you worry about the pains in your chest, feeling listless, with a stomach so upset you can’t eat.
Don’t be fooled, the CJ doesn’t give a damn about telling us the truth. It’s too busy playing the “both sides” game, and too cowardly to stand up for the common good.
And that’s another reason it’s failing.
