Al Gore was mostly right, as the above chart shows.
The former U.S. vice president’s documentary on climate change, “An Inconvenient Truth,” came out in 2006. It detailed the climate disasters we see today: stronger hurricanes; heated areas leading to massive wildfires; and rising sea levels as polar icecaps melt, to name a few.
Here’s what Gore said this past July when reflecting on the documentary’s 20th anniversary:
Of course, Republican congressmen went out of their way to say man-made global warming was a farce perpetrated by Democrats.
Kentucky’s own Thomas Massie, who’s in the midst of his “broken clock moment” on Donald Trump and the Epstein files (it’s always right twice a day), defended climate denial in 2013. From NBC News:
Rep. Thomas Massie (Kentucky): “I would challenge [President Obama] to show us the linkage—the undeniable linkage—between droughts and the change of weather, and some kind of human activity,” Massie, an MIT graduate, said earlier this year.
Science says… Rising greenhouse-gas levels, created in part by burning fossil fuels (i.e. coal and oil), have been found to play a role in the growing intensity of rain and snow.
Just another example of Americans having to put up with propagandistic idiocy from the GOP. We are at the peak of MAGA moron mouth mush, as middle-aged, middle-school-dropout meatheads “doing my own research” swear they can prove overwhelming scientific study that took place over decades is just “a conspiracy by the libs.”
Climate denial is one of the keys to Republican identity, whether they’re “GOP,” “Reagan Revolutionaries,” “compassionate conservatives,” “Tea Party Patriots,” MAGA, or whatever name they come up with next to hide the fact they are consistently on the wrong side of history.
