Back McGarvey, not bombs

From Jewish Louisvillians for Peace:

Morgan McGarvey needs our support right now!

Morgan has signed on as a cosponsor of H.R. 3565 (the Block the Bombs Act)—a U.S. House bill that prohibits the President from selling or transferring specific U.S. weapons—such as BLU-109 bunker-buster bombs and artillery rounds—to Israel.

This is a super important but relatively moderate step that simply says the U.S. will not sell Israel weapons being used for war crimes. The bill has NOTHING to do with defense.

Nevertheless, we can expect that Israel hawks are going to scream antisemitism over this.

I am a diaspora Jew. I am the great grandchild of Eastern European Jews who fled violence. I have dealt with varying degrees of antisemitism over my life, many incidents more a result of ignorance than hatred or bigotry. I am ashamed of what the geopolitical state of Israel has been perpetrating. I implored Morgan to support this bill, in person, more than once, and I will be calling him on Monday to express my appreciation and support.

I hope you will too—you can add that you appreciate his regard for peace and (all!) human life.

McGarvey represents Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional district. His phone is (502) 582-5129. He has announced he will no longer take campaign donations associated with the pro-Israel American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which has facilitated the spending of tens of thousands of dollars on campaigns by Kentucky’s only Democrat in Congress.
