Looks like Generalissimo Francisco Franco has cancelled his meetings with Mitch McConnell and is now on a first name basis with Lindsey Graham.
By now, you know this happened (from The Washington Post):
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) died suddenly on Saturday night at age 71, his office said, prompting tributes from President Donald Trump and lawmakers from both parties who recalled his record as a foreign policy hawk and deep friendships he forged during his three decades in Congress.
In a statement, Graham’s office said preliminary findings from the D.C. medical examiner’s office found that Graham suffered from an aortic dissection, in which a tear occurs in the inner layer of the main artery. This was caused by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the statement said. These tears usually occur when there is high blood pressure.
Meanwhile, yesterday, the Lexington Herald Leader gave us this photo, with a caption that says:
“Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell poses with his wife, Elaine Chao, in a picture from the hospital bed after weeks of rumors circulating about his health. (Office of Senator Mitch McConnell)

So Mitch is hanging on, probably because he made a deal with Satan: “Hey, Lindsey’s old and a poof, you want him more than you want me.”
And as expected, the corporate media takes the “safe” inoffensive route with their Graham obituaries, full of comments of politicians giving their condolences and saying how much they respected him. (Hey, just reread the beginning of the Washington Post story referred to at the top and do a Google search on “Lindsey Graham death reactions”).
At least, the people who knew him best were more honest with their assessments of his legacy. Check out this YouTube video from political insider Stuart Stevens:
It’s a devastating criticism coming from a former Republican Party insider, and there are other videos of Never Trump Republicans with similar comments.
If there’s an afterlife, Graham is in the eighth circle of hell, covered in shit with all the other sycophants and flatterers.
He could have been a hero if he had stood up for decency.
I hope Mitch sees how much excrement is being dumped on Graham, not only by the torturers in Dante’s Inferno, but also by the American public.

Separately, get a load of this:
Under South Carolina law, the governor can appoint someone to serve out the remainder of Graham’s term at any time. Michelle LeClair, a spokesperson for Gov. Henry McMaster (R), declined to answer questions about his timeline for filling the position, writing in an email that “at this time, our focus is on honoring Senator Graham’s life and service.”
What the fuck!
As I noted in my last post on Kentucky’s Schroedinger’s senator, Republicans in the Bluegrass legislature passed a law in 2024, when Mitch was glitching, that forces a special election, which is a waste of taxpayer money.
I hate to believe South Carolina is more sophisticated than our commonwealth, but the reality is that if the Palmetto State had a Democratic governor with a Republican supermajority, they would do the same damn thing, because the GOP is a racist, sexist, homophobic cesspool of hypocrisy.
