The weather outside is frightful

We’ve been having a lot of rain in the Derby City for the past few days, not to mention consistent thunderstorms and a couple of tornado watches and warnings.

So, what exactly is happening when flashes of light and ear-shattering booms disrupt your ability to go outside.

Expect more to come. From the Courier Journal:

During the latest weather event, which has taken place over the past 48 hours, Louisville has seen 3.23 inches of rainfall, according to NWS Louisville.

The southern part of the state near the mountain counties has seen the least amount of rainfall, ranging anywhere from 0.01 to 0.04 inches.

The county with the highest rainfall total is Christian County just north of Hopkinsville with a storm total of 8.5 inches.

Stay inside if you can, but if you have to go out, carry an umbrella.
