Another weekend, another protest

Several hundred people showed up in Louisville this weekend for another protest against the Orange Menace’s ICE Gestapo in the wake of the murder of a Minneapolis woman whom every MAGA incel swears was a radical out to do harm, when, in fact, she was a mother trying to get away from masked hoodlums who had been terrorizing her community.

The Louisville protest, behind the Kentucky Center for the Arts, was noticeable, however, for the people who didn’t participate.

No elected official showed up to address the crowd, which was infuriating because it reveals that no elected official, particularly the mayor and the local congressman, really cares what ICE does in our community. Speakers noted that there are federalized goons terrorizing vulnerable residents, but no one ever noted that Louisville’s mayor is the one who invited those wannabe militia rejects into our city.

In addition, practically no opposition candidates, other than one person running for Metro Council, bothered to participate in calling out the abomination of growing fascism that is spreading throughout the country like a malignant cancer.

And no one criticized our local media for ignoring the severity of the elimination of due process that our senile, corrupt, flatulent pedophile in chief has unleashed on us all. (Most reflective of this media failure was the day after 1,000 people showed up for a different anti-ICE rally several days earlier, our alleged local paper ran, as the main story on its home page, a thumb sucker on the best restaurants in the area.)

The year is 2026. This is the 250th anniversary of the birth of the United States. Judging from the coverage we’ve been seeing and the political cowardice we are experiencing, this is shaping up to be the year democracy dies, and none of our local political and opinion leaders seem to care.
