This happened in April:
A winning lottery ticket from Kentucky set a new record for the largest Powerball jackpot prize to come from the commonwealth, the Kentucky Lottery announced April 27.
At $167.3 million, the ticket sold to mother and son Linda Grizzle and Shannon Farthing at Clark’s Pump N Shop in Georgetown topped a Kentucky record from 2009 by nearly $40 million. The 2009 ticket was also sold at a Georgetown retailer.
Body camera footage of a Kentucky man who recently won a $167.3 million Powerball jackpot and was arrested in Florida just days after has been released.
The video from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office shows James Shannon Farthing, 50, of Georgetown, being tased and tackled by deputies after attempting to flee following a bar fight. First responders were attempting to break up the fight between Farthing and another man, Kevin Rushing, when Farthing allegedly kicked a deputy in the face.
Farthing was arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail, where he was held on a $10,000 bond. He entered a plea of not guilty and was ordered to have no contact with Rushing in May.
Which leads us to this:
Florida Man is an Internet meme first popularized in 2013,[1] referring to an alleged prevalence of people performing irrational, ridiculous, and maniacal actions in the U.S. state of Florida. Internet users typically submit links to news stories and articles about unusual or strange crimes, actions and other events occurring in Florida, with stories’ headlines often beginning with “Florida Man …” followed by the main event of the story.[2]Because of the way news headlines are typically written, they can be creatively interpreted as implying that the subjects of the articles are all a single individual known as “Florida Man”.
Looks like a recent millionaire has found his true calling.
