Typical Republican behavior

From the Courier Journal:

There’s got to be something that screams “white supremacy” more than holding a legislative committee meeting on a topic that affects Black people more than anyone else and not allowing any African Americans to speak.

But I’m not sure what that might be.

The Kentucky House Committee on Postsecondary Education did that on Tuesday.

Committee Chairman James Tipton gave proponents of the hateful House Bill 4, which would outlaw diversity, equity and inclusion programs in Kentucky colleges, 45 minutes to speak, and then limited opponents to just 10 minutes.

And none of the people he called to testify against the measure were the college students who had traveled from Louisville for an 8 a.m. meeting to make their voices heard. And none of them were Black.

Here’s the egregious part of the story. The writer never uses the words “Republican” or “GOP” in the story. That is just irresponsible. If you are going to point out something horrible that your state legislature is doing, you absolutely have to say which party is doing it.

We all know that this isn’t an initiative by Democrats. We also know that if democrats did anything like this in the legislature (taking away people’s rights without giving people the chance to respond), the word “Democrat” would be in every sentence.

I usually like Joe Gerth’s opinions, but this is a true failure of responsibility. Name names! Assign blame!
