Republican congressmen are consistently avoiding town hall meetings because they’re afraid of their constituents. Or maybe, with the exception of Thomas Massie in the 4th congressional district, they’re too busy kissing the ass of the senile, incontinent orange TACO.
Which is illustrated in the following story from the CJ:
Tona Barkley and the group she cofounded in Frankfort have questions for their congressman, U.S. Rep. James Comer.
They have questions about what he’s doing to battle corruption in Washington, D.C., now that President Donald Trump has taken over for ex-President Joe Biden, who was frequently targeted by the House Oversight Committee he chairs. They want to ask about what they see as threats to democracy, Barkley said, and some of the proposals included in the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that’s passed the House and awaits a vote in the Senate.
So, Barkley and Capital Indivisible invited Comer to a town hall on July 1 in Frankfort. But they expect the seat they’ve offered him to be empty — despite “cordial” interactions in the past with his Kentucky-based staff, Barkley said, the group hasn’t received a response to its invitation.
The 1st district rep is supposed to run the congressional oversight committee, where he was on center stage for every halucinatory Loony Tune investigation during Joe Biden’s tenure. But now that real rot has been demonstrated as a badge of GOP honor, Foghorn hasn’t uttered a peep.
