A tale of two Andys

Our governor, Andy Beshear, appeared on “The View” today in continuation of his unannounced by totally expected run for the Democratic presidential nomination.

A quick look at the interview:

He hits all the talking points. He is right on being clear in language and not relying on the buzzwords of the day. But the appeal to Republicans will come up short when the party loves everything the Orange Menace is doing to bully the defenseless.

Still, it’s good to see Kentucky treated with respect on the national level. Whether that translates to votes remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, our other Andy (Barr) has decided that Kentucky is full of racists who will swarm to him as he seeks the state’s GOP gubernatorial nomination. From the CJ:

A new ad from Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, who is running in the May 19 primary election to replace U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, is bringing diversity, equity and inclusion back to the forefront of the campaign trail, calling the initiatives “dumb, evil, indoctrination.”

Barr also says that “corporate losers fall for” DEI while showing a picture of Lexington businessman and fellow primary candidate Nate Morris in the ad released Feb. 7.

“I’m leading the fight to end it for good. … It’s not a sin to be White, it’s not against the law to be male and it shouldn’t be disqualifying to be a Christian,” Barr says in the ad.

Barr is going for the “piece of shit” vote. Now it’s crucial for decent people in the state to end his political career and send him off to some hole in the ground where he can rub shit in his hair with like-minded bigots.

It was the best of Andys. It was the worst of Andys.
