It will be October in a couple of weeks. That means it’s time for this:
Hints of autumn are in the air and that means the St. James Court Art Show is just around the corner.
Considered one of the nations’ best outdoor fine arts and contemporary crafts juried art shows, St. James Court Art Show is celebrating its 69th year, featuring over 600 artists from around the U.S. The popular annual event typically attracts more than 250, 000 visitors to one of the country’s largest collections of Victorian homes in the heart of historic Old Louisville.
Recently ranked as one of the “Best Fine Art and Design Show in America” by Sunshine Artist Magazine, the St. James Court Art Show hosts artists from around the world to participate in the three day juried event. Only about one in four artists that apply are selected to show their work at St. James Court Art Show.
This year’s show will be held Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5. and is spread out across four square blocks spanning St. James Court, Belgravia Court, Fourth St., Third St., the 1300 Section of Third St. and the West End Baptist Church.
We’ve done volunteer work with the Art Show for more than a decade and enjoy examining the offerings, buying pieces and the watching people go by. Visitors are constantly stopping and taking pictures of our house, and this year, we have family coming in from the East and West Coasts, specifically for the show.
In addition to the art, there are tons of food vendors, and a constant stream of entertainment, including music, dance and theatrical productions during the event.
So if you’re in the neighborhood, drop by.
