This headline from Fan Recap showed up in my feed:
Ravens Star Breaks Foot In Devastating Setback
A key offensive weapon for the Ravens will miss time after scans revealed a foot fracture, adding a new twist to ongoing contract talks.
Everything in the headline and the prominence of the photo imply that this is about Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who’s been an NFL MVP as well as a Heisman Trophy winner at the University of Louisville.
But Lamar isn’t the injured player in the story. In fact, he’s only mentioned once, in passing, in the text.
Here’s the reality:
The Ravens were dealt a bit of a blow this week, as tight end Isaiah Likely is expected to miss some time with a foot injury. According to multiple reports, Likely suffered a small fracture after rolling his ankle in practice, leading to a surgical procedure that comes with a six-week recovery window. Depending on how things go during rehab, there’s optimism he could return sooner – and Week 1 remains in sight.
I’m not going to provide a link to the story because this is an egregious example of clickbait, and Fan Recap shouldn’t be rewarded for this deception.
