If you heard our last podcast, you knew this was going to happen. From the CJ:

The U.S. Department of Energy canceled tens of millions of dollars in funding for two Kentucky-based pilot projects intended to reduce carbon emissions, marking another wave of the Trump administration’s cuts to climate and decarbonization initiatives.
One $72 million award would have supported a pilot project to reduce a portion of the greenhouse gas emissions from LG&E’s gas-fired Cane Run Generating Station in Louisville, using a nascent technology known as carbon capture.
The planned project aimed to capture about 90,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the plant’s operations each year — the equivalent emissions of 20,000 gasoline-powered cars, but a small fraction of the Cane Run plant’s total emissions. Without federal support, the fate of this project is unclear. …
Another award, worth up to $75 million, would have gone to the international spirits company Diageo to decarbonize its operations in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Plainfield, Illinois. The company had previously set a goal of making these sites carbon-neutral by 2026 and 2028, respectively.
For all you MAGAts out there, this was supported by almost every one of your GOP congressmen in the Big Beautiful Batch of Bullshit Bill, with the exception of Thomas Massie in the 4th District, who voted against it because it didn’t cut enough from the deficit (which, by the way, seems to be the most important issue in the world when a Democrat is president, but doesn’t raise an eyebrow when a Republican takes over and puts the nation in a bigger hole with tax cuts for billionaires).
Less money from the government, fewer jobs for Kentucky. That should be the slogan for the Ky. Republican Party. And yet, the gullible keep voting red on Election Day.
