This is the view on the bridge behind Jim Patterson Stadium this morning:

There’s activity on the field because Miami beat Mississippi State in the NCAA Division 1 baseball regional tournament last night, which means:
Miami’s 5-4 win over Southern Miss late Monday night punched the Hurricanes’ ticket to the Super Regional round and sent them to Louisville. The Cardinals and Hurricanes didn’t meet during the regular season.
The first game of the Louisville Super Regional will be Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN2, followed by a Saturday matchup at 11 a.m. on ESPN. A third game, if needed, would be played Sunday at a time not yet announced.
Those are the Cards on the field getting ready for the showdown this week. The tournament is essentially in the “Sweet 16” phase, and the winner in the best of three matchup moves on to the College World Series in Omaha.
As far as this week’s games go, it looks like the games might be already sold out. UofL says tickets can be purchased here: GoCards.com/25SuperRegional, but it looks like the seats are in the left to center field berm area and were going for $31 a piece. However, Ticketmaster indicates tickets don’t go on sale until Thursday for the Friday and Saturday games.
At least we’ll have something to look forward to later this week.
The eight super-regional hosts were announced today by the NCAA DI Baseball Committee.
The following four super regionals will be played Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, with Sunday, June 8 for if necessary or weather-delayed games. The national seed is indicated before the team name, while updated records through the regionals are in parentheses.
