I guess God didn’t make coal miners

Coal mining.

From the Washington Post:

MADISON, W.Va. — Emory “Curly” Carter sometimes feels like he can’t breathe. Household chores, such as cleaning and gardening, leave him gasping for air, making him feel like he has a “real bad” case of pneumonia.

After nearly four decades working in underground coal mines, Carter was diagnosed with black lung, a deadly and incurable disease caused by inhaling coal dust over a long period. Now, the 70-year-old worries that the Trump administration’s steep cuts to health and safety programs will endanger the next generation of miners across the coalfields of West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia.

So how does the super majority GOP in Kentucky respond to this reality?

From the Jessamine Journal:

Republicans in the Kentucky Senate advanced a bill Friday that would limit state regulation of water pollution to a weakened federal standard as GOP lawmakers said industries from housing development to coal mining need bureaucratic relief.

And then we get this bit of cornpone wisdom from MAGA GOP Sen. Scott Madon of Pineville, the bill’s primary sponsor.

“God put coal under our feet so that we can use it. It’s one of the greatest natural resources, and it’s our job to push back on unelected bureaucrats,” Madon said on the Senate floor promoting his water polluting Senate Bill 89.
